Letters of recommendation are due March 15, 2026. Submissions after that date will be disregarded and students with unfinished submissions will not be considered.
We are happy to accept a generalized letter of recommendation. We understand that educators and community leaders are busy, and if you already have a letter written, we would rather see that than one pandered directly for us. We would like to understand the full picture of the student, and a generalized letter works fine.
If you don’t have a generalized letter, think about what the student stands for, what they achieved, and what challenges they may have faced. Consider what they have tried to accomplish, what they may have failed at, and what they succeed. Give us a description of how they were in class/under your instruction. Tell us about their work ethic! What about their connections with other students? Did they put sincere effort into their work or did they do the bare minimum? What qualities highlight their character?
Please note that describing any shortcomings does not disqualify a student. Shortcomings are natural and we excpect that students will face their own issues. We will read everything you write; do not be worried about telling us the truth.
Your letters are completely confidential, and will only be shared within the Marksman Scholarship team.
Be sure you attach the letter to the email as a reply, whether that be as a PDF or simply pasted into the body of the email. If you were emailed on accident, please respond by telling us. Our emails are not auto generated, and it will take us a few days to confirm everything on our end.
